Mike Hamberg is a Principal and Senior Designer at Poss Architecture + Planning and Interior Design. Before joining Poss in 2001, Mike piloted his own architecture firm, leveraging his skills and experience in architectural development, documentation, as well as commercial and residential design. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of New Mexico.
Environmental design and sustainability have been the focus of Mike’s 33-year career. He started at Janus Associates in Phoenix, Arizona, working on historic preservation and passive solar design. He arrived in Aspen in 1990 to join the Aspen Design Group and pursue eco-friendly resort development.
As an architect, Mike’s goal is to design spaces that are timeless in their beauty but modern in their interpretation and practicing green building initiatives. Mike draws upon the influences of Lou Khan, Frank Lloyd Wright, and his father, who was a professional artist as well as a student of architecture. When not busy sketching, and designing, Mike likes to ride his bike, drew and paint, as well as photograph and most of all fly-fish.
