Alexander J. Ulrich
Architectural Designer
Alexander J. Ulrich grew up in Plano, Texas, and has since moved throughout four other western states. His interest in architecture largely stemmed from a fascination with how things go together. As a young man, he enjoyed taking apart anything with a motor, building things out of wood, and inevitably exploring sculptural arts. His love for art ultimately led to a position after high school as a
studio assistant for a San Diego-based stained glass and glassblowing artist who often restored windows in historic and ornate Catholic churches around Southern California. While apprenticing there, he developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of architecture as an art form. During this time, as he worked as a glassblowing assistant, he began pursuing a degree in architecture.
Alexander was accepted to Montana State University for Architecture and Environmental Design. While attending, he took the opportunity to study abroad for six months at the University of Dundee’s School of Architecture and Urban Planning in Dundee, Scotland. In 2020, he received his bachelor’s in environmental design and was accepted into Montana State’s Master’s program in Architecture. While in graduate school, Alexander began working in construction as a concrete and framing laborer. In 2022, he graduated with a master’s degree in architecture, with his thesis focusing on the theory of Arcology and how it could be implemented in Idaho.
In his free time Alexander enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and puppy. He also enjoys riding motorcycles, photography, fishing, and kayaking.
